We stumbled upon this GEM of a video today, oddly via The New York Times. From the 1935 film, “Goin’ to Town”, Mae West stars as a rowdy single woman turning heads all over town. Our favorite part of the dialogue reads:
Mae: “For a long time I used to be ashamed of the way I lived.”
Man: “What’d you do, reform?”
Mae: “No, I got over being ashamed.”
Here, here, Mae. Now that’s a proud singles’ mantra we can stand behind!
