VIDEO: Mae West, He’s a Bad Man

We stumbled upon this GEM of a video today, oddly via The New York Times. From the 1935 film, “Goin’ to Town”, Mae West stars as a rowdy single woman turning heads all over town. Our favorite part of the dialogue reads:

Mae: “For a long time I used to be ashamed of the way I lived.”
Man: “What’d you do, reform?”
Mae: “No, I got over being ashamed.”

Here, here, Mae. Now that’s a proud singles’ mantra we can stand behind!

The Office Move

The administrative assistant in my office was commiserating with me about our upcoming office move, as most of the annoyance will fall on her shoulders. As I asked her about it she laughed and referenced a move she led at her old firm where she had to sort through, pack and unpack personal items for two of the male executives. It all started when she went to pack up the senior accountant on the floor… Continue reading

Banker Leaves 1% Tip to Waitress

Wow, this is disgusting. The UK Daily Mail reported yesterday about a major banking boss who left more than his arrogance at the Newport Beach, CA restaurant where he and a junior employee were dining.

After finishing a fancy lunch for $133 USD, the jerk boss left a measly tip of $1.33 (read: 1 percent) along with a curt written remark: “GET A REAL JOB”.

The message, which was captured via photograph and included on a now deleted blog post was presumably a slap to the 99 percent. The Huffington Post reports that the blogger originally gave some insight into the personality of his boss in that post stating:

SNL’s Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler take on Birth Control Debate “Really!?!” Style

In case you missed last week’s Saturday Night Live, a few things. A. You need to watch it. Maya Rudolph hosted and it was an awesome show. B. Our Twitter prayers were answered and Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler took on the birth control debate in segment we love oh so much entitled, “Really!?! With Seth & Amy”.

We also appreciate that Maker’s Mark is running ads on this video, since you know Maker’s Mark can sometimes lead to unintended sex and consequences…and all that jazz.

Protect our access to birth control. We won’t stand down.

Baby Making…No Strings Attached

I recently found a Craigslist item so absurd, I wanted to share it with you and offer my commentary. Posted in Men seeking Woman, it was entitled:

“Lets have a beautiful baby together”

“lets have a baby
established black guy here, 37
I am looking to have a kid.
are you seeking the same?
not seeking a romantic relationship but will be in my kids life in every way”

Yes, how appealing. I would like to spend 9 months pregnant with your child, with no strings attached!! A baby, with no relationship to the father!! Comforting to know that the father plans to be there in the child’s life. Yet does not seek a relationship with the mother of his child…

I love that this post isn’t even this guy just wanting sex, which would be normal. Nope, he wants to have sex and then a lifetime of committment to the consequences of unprotected sex!! What a guy!

Sign me up for 9 months of pregnancy, going through 20 hours of labor, and 18 years of raising a child with a relatively unknown dad, who plans to be present in the kid’s life? Awesome!!

I guess, on the plus side… at least he is honest? This probably happens all the time with men who are far less honest about their intentions.

Thanks, but no thanks, pal.

Song of the Day: Better Off Without You

We love this song. At first listen, we thought we were in Wet Hot American Summer II, which would not be a bad thing. And then we got to minute/second 1:12, and it ALL MADE SENSE.

Heard this awesome song via the Claremont Colleges in California on their radio station KSPC 88.7. Dig in and enjoy.
